The story goes, the founder of Bern, Switzerland said they would name the city after the first animal they encountered on a hunt which turned out to be a bear! Filtered through some fuzzy etymological hand-waving \u0026lsquo;Bern\u0026rsquo; means \u0026lsquo;bear\u0026rsquo;.
